Just want to make sure everyone is aware of the Family Search Worldwide Indexing Event, begins August 7! This year, we are in for a special treat. Remember last year's Event, when the indexing system crashed? Apparently that wasn't from having too many volunteers, it was having so many at the same time. In order to avoid that again, Family Search has extended the Event to last a full week, till August 14. The goal: 100,000 volunteers. Will you fuel the find*?
A statement from the Family Search blog says:
"English speakers have billions of records to search on FamilySearch.org—20 times more than all other languages combined! Let’s help people across the world find their ancestors too! All it takes is one batch indexed sometime during the week to be counted."
It's that simple: Log in, index one batch (contact the Family Search support for help here), and submit! The work you do will help other members of God's family find missing links in their family.
(Parents: Want to get your kids indexing this summer? Family Search has some ideas.)
*According to the Family Search blog, this is what it means to "fuel the find":
"Indexed records are like the fuel that gives FamilySearch.org the power to connect people to their missing family members. Every name you index adds another drop of precious fuel that can help someone else to find their ancestor. Every search result and record hint depends on indexed records. Without them these instant discoveries would not be possible."
